A phased interior renovation of a traditional upstate New York home, reimagined with a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic to bring lightness, clarity, and timeless character to key living spaces.

The first phase of work focused on transforming underutilized areas into purposeful, inviting rooms. An existing office became a dedicated library, the living room was reimagined for entertaining, and the kitchen underwent a full update. The renovation also included the entry, mudroom, and laundry/utility area—spaces often overlooked but critical to the daily rhythm of the home.
Throughout the house, a calm and simple material palette was used to bridge traditional and contemporary elements. Oak floors were lightened, limestone tile was refinished, and white oak millwork unified the library, mudroom, and living areas. Finishes such as vintage brass, channeled glass, and roman clay plaster brought texture and warmth without overwhelming the quiet atmosphere.
In the kitchen, slimmer shaker fronts were introduced with ½" detailing, all repainted and paired with Calacatta gold countertops and backsplashes. Panel-ready Sub-Zero appliances and clear outlets were integrated for a seamless look. In the library, full-height shelving and a built-in desk were added, with a custom channeled glass door offering privacy and light. A travertine fireplace surround, new lighting, and carefully selected furniture completed the living room’s refined, understated transformation.
